Overview

The research and development unit of BISU Clarin was born when Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT) was created on June 22, 1998. As mandated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) , all State Universities and Colleges (SUC’s) must have trilogy function of a college namely, instruction, research and extension.

A leading university in education and research geared towards the innovation, development and application of new knowledge for the enrichment of man’s quality of life

Mission:  

A dynamic research department focused on maximizing university resources while promoting culture of research among the faculty and students by enhancing their capability in performing and applying and broadcasting information and findings for the benefits of the stakeholders.

The R&D of CVSCAFT was first headed by Dr. Gordiano Quilicot with the designation of Dean of Research and Development in 1998. Dr. Quilicot served as the Dean of R&D until 2003. One of the major research projects conducted in his time was the Participatory Coastal Resource Assessment (PCRA) in Barangay Bonbon and Brgy. Bacani of Clarin, Bohol.

When the term of Dr. Quilicot ended, Dr. Nestor A. Balicoco, answered the challenge to be the next R&D chief. Dr. Balicoco is serving as the Dean of R&D since 2003 until present. Under his leadership, R&D has grown into a distinct unit. Some of the unit’s research projects conducted is internally and externally funded. Slowly, BISU Clarin R&D has carved its name in the research world.
