Research and Development Unit


Research is an academic function inherent to all higher education institutions. The role of research in expanding the frontiers of knowledge is well recognized in the academic circles. Bohol Island State University (BISU), one with all the SUCs in the country being mandated to generate and disseminate knowledge, commits to take the responsibility and function to conduct research and other scholarly investigations in the disciplines identified as focus areas.

BISU has the obligation to put research function at work in order to contribute information and data and to produce innovative technologies useful to local, national, and international programs on sustainable development. As provided by Republic Act 9722, BISU “shall promote research and give primary consideration to integration of research studies for the development of the country and the world”.

This Research and Development (R&D) manual is a BISU document that embodies the R & D policies, guidelines, programs, and projects to promote, encourage, and support research activities of the university.

Vision

A leading university in research and extension services geared towards the innovation, development, and application of new knowledge for the enrichment of man’s quality of life.

Mission

A dynamic research and extension department of focused on maximizing university resources while promoting culture of research and extension services among the faculty and students by enhancing their capabilities in performing studies and projects and in applying findings for the benefits of the stakeholders.

Objectives

BISU Clarin RDE aspires to have:

  • developed a research and extension culture of quality research and extension outputs among students and faculty;
  • inculcated awareness of the faculty members of the importance of research and extension in the enhancement of education and their involvement in the research programs of the university;
  • developed significant RDE capability in key areas;
  • initiated RDE trainings for faculty and student researchers;
  • disseminated research and extension output to the public;
  • attracted new externally funded research agencies and increase the level of external and institutional support for RDE;
  • established research and extension collaboration with local, national and international research institutions;
  • engaged into research cum production and extension; and
  • Disseminated and transferred technology utilizing established extension approaches towards rural development.
